SEO Competition

The industry we are in is not that keen on SEO since we primarily belong in a graphics industry. However SEO has been considered as one of the best things that happened in our company and the amount of effort and resources we have invested in this department have proved to be 10% profitable for the company. Only proves that SEO works for whatever online business you have.

The issue is that an old employee of ours has recently left the company and is currently working for a direct competitor. When I say direct, we are on the same geographic location with same service and all. What's worse is that she has been mirroring our site and has been aggressively following our steps. I am through with questioning her sense of business ethics since I found out she does not own one at all.

The only fear we have is that if she has copied our clients information and then pirate them to avail their services instead of ours. We are currently taking legal actions to prevent such matter to happen in the near future.

I guess, one of the good things out of this is that, my team is quite agitated and if they are tail tracking us, we are doing the same thing to them. In the long run, we cannot monopolize the clipping path market and competition is not only healthy but hectic over the internet. They are not our only competition and we are not a bit least scared. We hold real SEO knowledge (plus our wit and charm) unlike the SEO expert pretense that she is trying so hard to purport. That I guess is our advantage.

Moral lesson: To all those online businesses, SEO is it. Understand the anatomy of the search engines and tweak your site to their likings. Scatter you're link like hell but make sure that your link is visible to your target market. SEO wouldn't be as successful as I am saying if you don't know your target market well. Knowing and understanding your target market is the first step to everything. If you don't know anything about SEO, there are several tutorials available about the basics of SEO.

I will be posting soon on how to treat your competition the passive aggressive way. Keep posted...

Webmasterlogs' backlink analyzer is a really good tool for you to check out all of those sites that is linking back to you. Unlike Google's link: domain.name, webmasterlogs will show you unique domain names along with these information on these following areas at your convenience.

* Whois record of the domain name
* Text only cached page retrieved by Google
* Cached page retrieved by Google
* Internet archive

You can even download the data you have obtained in CSV format. Go ahead and check out all those domains that is linking back to you and you'll be surprised there are you have indeed spread the news about your website.

SEO Poems

October 16th 2007 09:02
A colleague of mine have been exploring many things on SEO and she accidentablly bumped on some SEO poems. Thanks to her, I now have a new post.

Both these poems are not mine, nor my colleague's though. We found it quite amazing and amusing that our work can push us to create something creative. Surely, these guys think about SEO 24/7. Writing a poem about SEO would be something I would like to work on in the coming days, yes, when my work can actually give me the luxury of time.

Ranking Lovin'

I'm getting some rankings now
titles and metas helped
content gave the message
but links had to be developed
external linking growing
I'm getting anxious and can wait no longer
two months have gone by now and finally the traffic is getting stronger
look at all these orders
it was all a matter of time
the search engines updated their index and the profit is all mine

The SEO Gurus poem

Am I alone as I survey that vast wilderness outside,

Sat at home every day fettered by my own foolish pride,

I may believe I can conceive stunning cunning plans,

Yet I perceive the web I weave is lacking vital strands,

It may transpire my destiny is to conquer virtual space,

But I must wire the best of me to another spidery face,

For although knowing everything about business and site,

To grow means throwing other experts in to get it right,

So even this experienced spider who spins webs so fine,

Needs for bliss a guider to show the whole world online,

His creation, born bred and reared , now standing serene,

Will evoke elation and be revered if it can only be seen,

There's no point in Picasso no mike in Michelangelo,

If the joints a no go and the sound man doesn't show,

So that treasure you're concealing from total global view,

Measures up and has meaning with others helping you,

We all have inborn talent and also inborn failings,

So often scorn a balance, chained to our own railings,

And our world misses a website that deserved to be a star,

But not unfurled in all its might, merely cowering from afar,

Why not take your Van Dyke, or Rembrandt seen by few,

And let us make it see the light, exposed to global view,

Don't hide them in shadows behind barriers of your mind,

Where pride and jealous arrows make them hard to find,

Instead turn to experts just as good as you would like to be,

Who you'll learn to trust, and who will set your website free.

Which among the two do you like best? Do you have your own set of poems about the technicalities of your work?
