Linkedin

March 30th 2008 07:11
How many of you have set up an account in Linkedin? Linkedin is a professional social network. Its more like facebook, only most members there are adults with jobs. Linkedin is focused more on the business side with over 20 million members worldwide. Its hardly a place for you to upload hundreds of your photos and simply connect to other members but rather it's a place wherein you find a chance in meeting potential clients and more. There are several ways to use Linkedin and Mario Sundar has written at most "Ten Ways to Use Linkedin."

In his list, he mentioned:

1. Increase you visibility

2. Improve your connectability
3. Improve your Google PageRank
4. Enhance your search engine results
5. Perform blind, “reverse,” and company reference checks
6. Increase the relevancy of your job search
7. Make your interview go smoother
8. Gauge the health of a company
9. Gauge the health of an industry
10. Track startups

Google Update

March 3rd 2008 07:08
Did anyone notice a change in PR lately? How a drop in backlinks?

Well, I did. Unfortunately, LazyMovie happened to be one of the hundreds of sites affected by google's latest update. And from 138 backlinks it dropped to 69.

Although my blog's PR, vigoureuxartiste, increased from 0 to 3.

No one was expecting such an early PageRank update in 2008. The last one, as you probably can remember, happened late in October and it created a lot of buzz due to a new policy that Google decided to adopt towards websites that were selling text links without the nofollow tag.

Have you noticed any changes?
