Search Engine Optimization - SEO PULP

Linkedin (LINK)

March 30th 2008 07:11
How many of you have set up an account in Linkedin? Linkedin is a professional social network. Its more like facebook, only most members there are adults with jobs. Linkedin is focused more on the business side with over 20 million members worldwide. Its hardly a place for you to upload hundreds of your photos and simply connect to other members but rather it's a place wherein you find a chance in meeting potential clients and more. There are several ways to use Linkedin and Mario Sundar has written at most "Ten Ways to Use Linkedin."

In his list, he mentioned:

1. Increase you visibility

2. Improve your connectability
3. Improve your Google PageRank
4. Enhance your search engine results
5. Perform blind, “reverse,” and company reference checks
6. Increase the relevancy of your job search
7. Make your interview go smoother
8. Gauge the health of a company
9. Gauge the health of an industry
10. Track startups

Using controversy in your articles

February 19th 2008 01:22
Using controversy as a vehicle to create interest in your unique article content is one way to *stir the pot*, attract traffic and be entertaining…

However, if the high majority of your articles are all controversy-position-taking, it will be difficult for you to maintain a level of credibility over the long haul.

Nine (9) Article Writing Tips To Consider When Using Controversy:

1. Credibility is always more important than any short-lived traffic spike.

2. Certain topical areas do not lend themselves to controversy at all.

3. Do not go overboard when using controversy by stretching the truth or taking below-the-belt pot-shots at others.

4. Never insert controversy for controversy sake alone. Your ideas must stand alone apart from your controversial statements.

5. It’s not necessary to attack another human or be *personal* in your controversy! You can be provocative in your ideas or the broader picture rather than making it personal.

6. Dispute the facts, dispute the premise, dispute the issues and provide arguments for your reasons. You can do this WITHOUT discrediting the person who originated the idea that you are taking issue with. Think respectful disagreement.

7. Keep in mind that we don’t take risks on content…so if your controversial article attacks another human, slanders or defames against an individual or against another brand or organization, we may not be able to accept that type of content.

8. For the record, we don’t seek articles or authors who primarily invoke controversy as their primary way of expressing themselves. However, a little controversy peppered in without attacking another human or organization directly may be ok.

9. Highly controversial articles are better NOT syndicated. Instead, put them on your website only.

Your thoughts on the use of controversy in article content?

What are perfect links?

January 24th 2008 07:14
Link building is the pump-prime undertaking in SEO. You submit to directories, join forums and relentlessly seek link partners to swap links with. Since Google place a positive bias on links that fit most on their relevancy boosting algorithms, I guess it would only be right that we discuss where to find these links and what does it constitute.

- Try finding links in trusted sites. These are primarily seed sites that rank highly in TrustRank Algorithm

Keyword - A More Natural Language

September 18th 2007 06:10
The first thing they did was to stop looking at keyword meta tags. Too often people were putting keywords in that did not match their page. Next they started punishing people for putting strings of key words together, such as "baseball baseball baseball". Next they paid attention to whether or not they were used in a sentence. Then they started evaluating the content of the page to see what it was about. By this time they were getting really accurate in their search results. But as long as there are search engines people will try to fool them. For the last couple of years search engine optimization people have promoted keyword stuffing. This is where you put the keyword in the text as often as you can fit it in.

A new generation of natural language algorithms has been developed by the major search engines to combat this. Now for the first time we are hearing the use of the term natural language. Now search engines look at the way that a term is used. They compare the use of the term in the context of how it is used. This example is a little extreme, but we have all seen pages written like this

FREE tools to analyze you site

February 22nd 2007 05:22
Often, we are so close to our own sites that we fail to look at them with objective eyes. Are you really seeing the big picture? Sometimes it is helpful to step back and just run your site through some tools to see what you may have missed. But what I’d like to stress is that you should actually use them once in a while, looking at the patterns they present to you. Notice the trends you see. Pay attention to those things that are missing from your site that are not missing from sites that rank very well.

The following tools are online and free

How to Create an RSS file

December 28th 2006 08:03
RSS files use the XML language. This is similar to html except you must be careful to use closing tags and be sure to validate it before you use it. An XML file contains the information (Title, Description and Link URL) that your audience will receive through a RSS reader.
