Search Engine Optimization - SEO PULP

Google Update

March 3rd 2008 07:08
Did anyone notice a change in PR lately? How a drop in backlinks?

Well, I did. Unfortunately, LazyMovie happened to be one of the hundreds of sites affected by google's latest update. And from 138 backlinks it dropped to 69.

Although my blog's PR, vigoureuxartiste, increased from 0 to 3.

No one was expecting such an early PageRank update in 2008. The last one, as you probably can remember, happened late in October and it created a lot of buzz due to a new policy that Google decided to adopt towards websites that were selling text links without the nofollow tag.

Have you noticed any changes?

Google Bombing - a Polish way

September 17th 2007 06:06
Philipp Lenssen reports that a Polish newspaper says that a 23-year-old polish man was arrested for Google bombing.

Marek W. from Cieszyn is accused of somehow causing the Polish president Lech Kaczyński's web site to rank tops for "kutas," which translates to penis.

Marek reportedly used software to help produce the ranking. When questioned, he said:

I just wanted to verify my skills and check if the software works

Jane Kirk has done it again. After successfully establishing LazyMovie, a service provider of rotoscoping and chroma keying, she is now once again penetrating another industry with a new outsourcing solution up her sleeve.

She calls it, with a smirk I might add, ’The Other LazyMovie’; a new service niche dedicated to answer the expensive needs of the film restoration industry

New Trends in SEO

July 25th 2007 03:56
I came across this quick article that discusses on the new trends on the search engine world and SEOs reactions to it.

Primarily, the trend now is on localization and personalization. And a new form of search engine, in beta mode is already out, Eurekster."Eurekster bases it’s results on two major factors. The first is the user’s personal behaviour. The second is the behaviour of friends and others belonging to a social or work grouping. The basic idea is that groups share common interests. Weighing a search-query by those interests may produce better, more personalized search results

MSN -- backlinks

April 18th 2007 06:32
This is old news, due to my massive projects, I have been a missing dot in the blogger sphere. Anyway, for those of you, who uses advance search syntax queries on search engines such as linkomain.com, linkdomainomain.com, inurl:url.com, unfortunately for us SEOs, MSN has temporarily turned-off that functionality. I know its old news since that happened around a month ago, and, even then, I was baffled to see that I can't see my backlinks in MSN.

Finally, our new website is out! The long awaited SEO efforts meant for this LazyMovie is about to take full blast. The official launching of our site brings good news to tired visual effects designers and at same challenge for optimizers such as me. We are trying to combine good design that fits our market and at the same time still meet the standards of search engines. The homepage is half flash, so we are closely monitoring how the search engines are taking it.

Hackers and Exploits

February 6th 2007 05:48
The official Web site of Dolphin Stadium, home of Sunday's Super Bowl XLI, has been hacked and seeded with exploit code targeting two known Windows security flaws.

In the attack, that visitors to that page with unpatched Windows computers downloaded a keylogger and malware that allows full backdoor control. As a webmaster, hacked sites are shaping up to be an issue that everyone will have to be savvy about. Try to make sure your servers are patched and that you have backups

Competitor Analysis Tool - SEO SpyGlass

December 12th 2006 06:21
I was browsing around the web to check out what's newsworthy and luckily stumbled upon this new and convenient tool, SEO SpyGlass.

If you’re anything like most SEO’s you’d go crazy once your competition outrank you in Google and you dropped painstakingly to the 45th place. I guess it’s universal that we SEO practitioners aim to Rank no. 1 in the SERPS and get the visitors and sales we deserve. However doing that requires a tedious amount of competition analysis
