Old online marketing: Female Preference
January 9th 2007 09:09
Many Myspace spammers have encountered numerous techniques to spam Myspace and increase your number of friends added to you profile. A well accepted fact is that having a picture of a female rather than a male would result in more friends. Some would consider this sexist, but it this could simply be due to the fact that males spend hours on MySpace hoping to find a girlfriend over the internet.
An officemate of mine have started attending forums. At the start, the avatar she used was an abstract expression of graphic design. She found the forum realm aloof and unresponsive. Later on, she tried testing the waters by using her picture as her avatar. A day after she had countless replies and a some even dared asking for her e-mail address and home phone number.
Many experts felt the need to prove a point. So a conquest on "who gets more members" between Shoemoney and Andy Beal at the Myblog Community is currently ongoing. Shoemoney has hired a new employee, Nicole, which is now the picture of his community avatar - hoping that it attracts more readers joining his Shoemoney MyBlogLog Community.
Andy Beal, on the other hand, has decided to offer a free Microsoft Zune Player to any member who has joined his Marketing Pilgrim MyBlogLog Community before February 16th (and offers an incentive to whoever blogs about it).
Who do you think would attract more response?
